What you need to bring
-
Have on hand the primary colors, red, yellow and blue. Also, Magenta, Cyan blue, lemon yellow and black.
It can be paints from a tube or from a travel palette, both are great. If you are using tubes, be sure to bring along a mixing palette. Either way, extra mixing palettes are great to have on hand. It can even be a white plastic plate.
-
I use hot press paper, it's a paper with no or very little texture. Look for good quality paper, 100% cotton, 140lb is fine. One example is Arches watercolor pad in 9x12 inches. We will be working in small formats so no need for large size paper.
Tracing paper
A few sheets of tracing paper will do.
-
This is perfect to mount your watercolor paper onto. Once again , no need for large sizes, a 16x20 or so would be perfect. These board tend to be pricey, so you could buy a bigger one, cut it up into two pieces and share expenses with a fellow artist. text goes here
