Home Decor Trends 2022 (Part 2)
These past couple of weeks have been busy. The winter home decor shows in Atlanta and New York seem months away but are really closer than we think. At this time of the year, I am always focused on creating new collections to showcase to manufacturers. I am thinking and researching color and icon trends, what interior trends are merging and combine that with what I love to do … paint.

What is coming next Part 2

At this time of the year, I am always focused on creating new collections to showcase to manufacturers. I am thinking and researching color and icon trends, what interior trends are merging and combine that with what I love to do … paint.
Working in home decor is never boring. There is always something new to work on and so much eye candy to gush over during the day. I love seeing what creative interior and product designers are imagining for the home and then creating art that will add design and pattern to those trends.
I can’t imagine that I will ever run out of things, people, colors and patterns to inspire me.
One of the biggest overall home decor trends for 2022 is going to be comfort. We're staying in. We are nesting and rediscovering the joys of being at home. That means we want to create spaces that are not only beautiful but comfortable.
As promised, here is my Part 2 for what is trending in 2022 starting with Inspired by Nature
Like so many of you, I found myself outdoors more in 2021. Without the ability to visit with friends and family as often, or gather for dinners or parties, I explored my town and the countryside even more. I often found myself on walks gathering flowers or just breathing in the fresh air. I took time to see nature’s colors and explore the beauty of the world that surrounds us.
In Part 1 I talked about green being a major color for the home. But this trend isn’t only about color, it’s about texture and imagery too. Creating a space inspired by nature will mean bringing in natural textures like wicker and rattan, materials like linen and wood and nature-inspired patterns and art like leaves, ferns, and adorable icons featuring insects and mushrooms.
Statement Art and Wall Murals
Wallpaper has been rising in popularity for some time now but are you ready for a wallpaper revolution in 2022. I am.
Wall murals, from companies like Photowall, are going to make an even bigger design statement in 2022. They are a great way to bring a huge dose of personality into a room and give you the perfect statement wall that wows. I’m loving all the large-scale floral, abstract and statement wall murals that are waking up our walls and adding happy design to the home.
Perfect Patterns
Seems like we can’t get enough of patterns. As an artist, this is the best news ever. With each collection I make, I create mix and match patterns that complement the core art. With the growing popularity of cottagecore and the grand millennial trends, patterns are back in style more than ever.
I especially love mixing and matching patterns to create a maximalist look in a room. Whether you love boho design or are 100% traditional, mixing and matching patterns adds a depth of design that is unmistakable.
Home Decor Trends 2022 (Part 1)
I have been working in art and home décor for quite a few years - don’t ask me how many. We all have the things we love regardless of trends. Maybe you love contemporary looks or farmhouse. Maybe you are traditional while some of you want a modern urban feel to your space. Our homes are a reflection of who we are and if you are anything like me, you love decorating your space and even more … you love keeping up-to-date with trending looks in the home.

I spend a lot of time browsing through my favourite blogs and sites and on social, to see what style influencers, designers and companies, like Pantone, are talking about. I’ve been seeing looks I absolutely adore and some I am not so crazy about. But that’s life, isn’t it? I’ve gathered up my favorite looks for 2022 starting with the colors I think are going to be trending this coming year.
Green
Every shade of green is trending in the home. From deep velvety forest and emerald greens to brighter grass green and earthy sage, nature-inspired shades are top of the list for designers. In fact, Houzz said, in their recently released 2022 Emerging Trends Blog Post, that searches for the color green in the home are up an incredible 379%.
In addition to adding wall decor and furniture, I love adding plants and plant-inspired art into a space. I love being surrounded by nature all the time so surrounding myself with plants, planters and nature-inspired art is a must.
Earth Tones
Everyone is looking to 2022 as a year of hope and change. I don’t know about you, but I learned a lot about myself in 2021. Lockdown and quarantine helped to focus my goals and outlook on what I want these next years to look and feel like.
Earthy shades of coral, warm brown and dusty pinks started trending over a year ago, in part due to desert, etro and mid-mod trends. Those same shades will be having a big moment in 2022 as we all look to surround ourselves with colors that feel optimistic yet down to earth.
Sunny Yellow
One of my favorite colors, yellow is absolutely trending in art and the home. Sunny and filled with cheer, yellow accents in the home are going to be hot in 2022. I love how yellow pairs perfectly with popular neutrals like grey and black but also feels fresh and modern paired with brighter colors. Overall, you can help but smile when you see yellow.
I have always loved painting with yellow and especially was inspired when Pantone announced its 2021 color combination as Illuminating Yellow and Ultimate Grey. It is a perfect pairing, and like all Pantone color picks, is starting to come on strong in decor 9 months later.
Get inspired with 2022 design trends
If there is one thing for sure, we can always rely on fashion and home decor trends to bring new inspiration to our lives. As I sit here thinking about these gorgeous colors, I am getting ready to start planning for Part 2 of my 2022 Home Decor Trends. I can’t wait to share them with you.
