The Art of Note Taking
When we were in school, taking notes was a survival strategy. Today, it’s an art form.
As hard as I try, taking notes on a device or my computer just doesn’t feel right. There is something so beautiful about putting pen and pencil to paper and handwriting notes. Just the other day, I was reading an article on the strategies of successful entrepreneurs and one of the key things many have in common, is that they take notes, longhand, on paper.
I love this post on LinkedIn by Sir Richard Branson on notetaking. He talks about his love of taking notes and that ‘no matter ho big, small, simple or complex and idea is, get it in writing.”
I love that.
Notes help me get my creative ideas down on paper, clarify them, and keep them organized.
If I had to fire up a laptop or device, every time I had an idea, the idea would fade before I could get going. But with paper and a pen! When an idea strikes I can jot down my ideas or draw a little sketch nin the moment. Some times I use those ideas right away and other times, I come back to them months later. But they are all safely tucked away in my notebook, ready to be transformed another day into my art.
