What you can expect at your Watercolor Workshop

Over the 16 hours of pure artistic immersion, I'll be guiding you through the wonderful world of watercolors. Whether you're a seasoned painter or you've been brushing up on your skills, I'm here to share insights that will inspire your journey.

Get ready for some hands-on creativity. We're talking about color blending, layering and all the little tricks I have learned over the years. I'll break down every step, with demonstrations and you'll be right there with me, putting paint to paper and creating something you'll be proud of. My goal is for you to be amazed by your artistic potential during this three day workshop.

In this workshop, we'll tackle everything about colors – how to mix them, match them, and make 'em pop. Finding that perfect color combo? It's kinda my thing. Because trust me, the right colors can make your art seriously stand out.

We are going to cover some simple still life and nature themes to begin with and then we'll switch gears and capture the relaxing vibes of a beach theme – which totally suits our beach town location. I also have a fun exercise lined up that I'd love for you to try out. It's all about loosening up and having a good time!

What supplies you

will

need to bring

Here is a list of the materials we will need for the workshop.

  • Have on hand the primary colors, red, yellow and blue. Also, Magenta, Cyan blue, lemon yellow and black.

It can be paints from a tube or from a travel palette, both are great. If you are using tubes, be sure to bring along a mixing palette. Either way, extra mixing palettes are great to have on hand. It can even be a white plastic plate.

  • I use hot press paper, it's a paper with no or very little texture. Look for good quality paper, 100% cotton, 140lb is fine. One example is Arches watercolor pad in 9x12 inches. We will be working in small formats so no need for large size paper.

    Tracing paper
A few sheets of tracing paper will do.

  • This is perfect to mount your watercolor paper onto. Once again , no need for large sizes, a 16x20 or so would be perfect. These board tend to be pricey, so you could buy a bigger one, cut it up into two pieces and share expenses with a fellow artist.

  • Your favorite brushes: round and flat. HB pencil and eraser. Plastic pipette, Paper towels, and rags to prevent messes. Plus any other tools you like to use.
